Israel's Million Dollar Mermaid

They are seeking for a mermaid. Literally. During the last few months, several residents (mostly fishermen or travellers) of Kiryat Yam, a coastal place in Israel, report independently seeing a female figure half human - half fish jumping like a dolphin and doing every kind of tricks in the sunset. Then she disappears. The Municipality took this seriously enough to offer a $1, 000, 000 reward to anyone who can prove the mermaid's existence with a verifiable photo. (Even the Coast Guide received guidelines to keep an eye on the issue!) Council spokesman denied the mermaid seeking being a publicity trick when asked so; however, he admitted that the existence of a real living mermaid in Kiryat Yam's waters would be a major tourist attraction for the place. And while, well educated people of our times tend to realize how urban legends are made, in the meantime, Israeli people are having the summer of their lives, spending their time on the beach during 'happy hour' waiting with their cameras just to catch a glimpse of her...
I will save my critical eye (What marketing-cheesy is there next? Tinkerbell-wings-captured-in-Amazon-rainforest?) and point out peoples' 'need' to believe in mythical creatures, fairytales and so on. No matter how irrational, isn't this so ...romantic?

If you anyway come across the mermaid
...remember to treat her gently :)
This blog has a special love for mermaids...

Serves us right.
