From the 24th of April till 4th of May, London really s l o w e d d o w n . . . because of the 1st "Slow Down London" festival that took place there.
What is this all about?
"The festival gave Londoners a chance to explore slow music and arts, to try meditation and yoga, to sample slow food and crafts, to discover 'slow travel' in our own city, to debate ideas about time and pace, and to find our own ways to challenge the cult of speed and to appreciate the world around us" as mentioned in the site.
Well,
Carl Honoré, a Canadian journalist and "guru", wrote in 2004 "In praise of Slow: How a World-wide Movement is Challenging the Cult of Speed" a book that quickly became a best seller. The slowness of things is praised, not necessarily doing everything slowly, but in the right time...I am a speed-o-holic.
I don't know whether this is the solution to all the problems of the world, or it's just another trend that will pass by.
Anyway it is stuck to my mind, and when i fall in a delirium of anxiety ("i don't have time-time is up-too many things to do/see/fee/, too little time-i need a shrink-i am bored too quickly-etc") the words of the "guru" strike me:
"LIVE SLOWLY AND LET THE OTHERS RUN"...
